Preseason Heat Races
We are one week away from possibly the last season ever for the GTRRL and we have made a late decision to schedule some preseason races to get us back into the swing of how we operate. It's been nearly a half of a year since we have done any organized events and the drivers, and even the stewards, need a practice race or two to get back on top of things.
That being said, here is the plan for the April 27th events. We have scheduled 2 "heat" races at Daytona oval. They will be between 20 - 30 laps and all rules that will be employed for the season opening race will be employed in these races. We will use these races to practice things like cautions (which are only done on the ovals), pace laps (which at the ovals will be NASCAR style rolling starts), and race manners. To credit drivers for showing up to this event, we will take the average finish from these races and use that to set the lineup for the season opening race! The top finishing driver in these races will be given credit for the pole, which is 1 point that will be added to points total for the first race of the season. Those who do not show up will have to start the season opening race in the back and will still be allowed to race.
Once these heat races are done, we may change the track to different tracks on the schedule and test different aspects of our regulations like HP, start procedures, and any other regulations. We will use this night as an overall test night to get all drivers and stewards "up to speed" on everything. The room will be opened at 10pm ET by either PSN: DragonGT83 or Xx-Shagg-xX. Try to be there on time that way we won't be awake all night. The car we will be using this night and for the season opening race will be the Dodge Challenger SRT8 Touring Car (found in the DLC pack), and this car will be the only car that will be FULLY TUNED. So fully upgrade all of the car parts and the HP will be 562 with medium tires.
