Race 1 - Daytona International Speedway (Oval)
The first race on the GTRRL schedule will be at Daytona Oval. As been accustom for every series run by the GTRRL, the racing season will be kicked off that the high banked oval where every driver will have the opportunity to start the season off with a win. Not only is it the first race of the season, it is also the first of 3 races that will be considered for the oval/speedway championship. So drivers will have to decide if going all out for a Daytona win is worth possibly getting involved in an incident that could hinder there chance at a Speedway Championship.
Procedures
The starting order for the first race of the season has been determined using the results from the preseason challenge events. Thus Jonathon Bolling has been awarded pole position for this race and will be credited one bonus point for winning the pole. The rest of the order is filled by the results from last week, as stated above. For those that race this week and didnt last week, they will start at the rear of the field in a random, electronically determined, order.
The race will be 32 laps long. The first lap has been saved for a pace lap and there will be a midway caution at lap 16 (when the leader crosses the line to start lap 16). From here the field will come back together and will be able to pit, if needed, at the end of lap 16. After that we will return back to racing at the end of 17 (when the leader crosses the line to begin lap 18).
For the 3 speedway races this season, we will be employing a caution system for multi-car accidents. If a wreck occurs involving two or more cars, a caution can be called. These cautions will only be called if it is determined a WRECK. Atleast 2 or more cars must be involved in the wreck. A one car spin or one car just hitting another car into the wall will not be a caution. It must be a WRECK by 2 or more. Once this has occurred. Both wrecked cars must type into the chat "caution". If only one car designates a caution, none will be called. Once a caution has been called, the leaders will slow down and allow everyone to catch up. From here drivers have the option of pitting if necessary and if no car pits, we will go back to green immediately.
Start and Restart Procedures: They will be double file, NASCAR style, with the odds on the inside and evens on the outside. The leader though, does have the choice of either starting on the outside or inside but from row two on back, its odds/inside evens/outside. The pace speed to take the green flag will be 100 mph and here at Daytona, we will be using the NASCAR restart zone (see picture below). Inside this zone, the leader is go when he decides. He is not allowed to go before the first line (near the entry of pitroad) and must go before the last line. Once the last line has been crossed, it becomes a free for all and everyone can go.
The room will be open at 9:30pm ET time and we will start racing somewhere between there and 10pm ET. The room with be in a public room opened by DragonGT83. The car we will be using at this track will be the Dodge Challenger SRT8 Touring Car (from DLC car pack) on medium tires. This car is too be FULLY TUNED (all car parts) and the HP will then be limited to 562 HP. Keep in mind this will be only car on the schedule that will have tuning allowed.
Race 2 - Suzuka Circuit
Following the conclusion of the season opening race at Daytona, the stars of the GTRRL will be shifting gears and heading to Japan for the race at Suzuka. This will be the second race in the overall championship and will be the 1st race of the road course championship. Those who found success at Daytona will have to work extra hard at Suzuka as they will find themselves at the back of the grid for the start of the race. Not only will drivers have to battle each other, they could very well have to battle the mother nature as the weather is always unpredictable when we come to Suzuka!
Procedures
The starting order for this race will be based on the inverted results of the race at Daytona (this will be the procedure for every second race of a double header). For those that do not race the first race, they will be required to start at the back for the second race. If someone is found to have purposely finish poorly or quit in the first race, they can be made to start in the back of the second at the admins discretion*. The person who starts first in the second race will NOT be given credit for the pole and will not gain a bonus point for starting first.
At FIA Formula 1 tracks, we will be doing a standing start. If the opportunity is there, we will have a pace car that will go ghost to tell us when the race is green. On events that we can not find a pace car, we will use the clock on the right hand corner of the screen to determine when everyone leaves. After the race, these starts will be watched by race stewards and any jumps on the start will be addressed with time penalties determined by the severity of the jump.
During the race, drivers will be required to make 1 pit stop. This pit stop must be done between the 3rd lap and the 18th lap. Any pit stop done outside this range will not be counted and could result in a disqualification if no pit stop is done in this range of laps. Tires during pit stops will be limited to medium tires only!
The race at Suzuka will be 20 laps. There will be no pace lap as we will be using the grid lines on the track. Once the game indicates to go, we will line up in the correct order and a steward will tell everyone what time to go on based on the race clock at the top. The car we will be using here will be Nissan Silva Spec R Aero (S15) RM '02. The HP limit for this race will be 285HP and the car will need to be fully broken in to get this HP. From here on out, all cars will be defaultly tuned so no car upgrades can be bought (unless the car needs to be race modified like this car). Only thing the game will allow you to adjust will be the brake settings.
This track will be the weather version of the circuit. To start the race we will have the race set to 25% with a changeability of 3. This is subject to change as we get closer to race time.
We hope to see everyone there this weekend for another exciting season of GTRRL racing! In order to gain your GTRRL license for this weeks races, you must respond to this post with "I understand". If you do not understand something please ask and once understood respond thusly. No driver will be allowed to race if they do not indicate they understand the rules for this weekend!
